Christianist atheists

These self-identified "Christians" claim to believe in God, but act as if that omnipotent, omniscient entity is in dire need of their inept management to survive the non-challenge of science. The lack of confidence betrayed by their needless vigilance and senseless hostility makes me wonder if they believe in God at all. Certainly they are unwilling to "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God, the things that are God's." Science is a powerful way of knowing within the boundaries of its limited scope, and is in no way threatening to a person of faith. Yet, these so-called Christians betray their professed Master to grovel in the gutter of lies and slander. How pitiful!
A good friend of mine uses the term "Christianists" to refer to men and women who ritually profess belief in Jesus Christ, while speaking and behaving in ways that reveal a profound contempt for his teachings of compassion, forbearance, humility, and confident reliance upon the power of faith.
